Affiliate Tracking vs Promoter Tracking

Promoter Tracking in EventRaptor allows us to track who is promoting the event, independent of ticket sales.

By enabling promoter tracking, you are able to see who is promoting, how many they have signed up, and track each registrant back to who promoted.

Affiliate Tracking is slightly different - these are approved people who you will pay out a commission to, based on ticket sales.

CRMRaptor is able to handle affiliate tracking, when you use CRMRaptor for the registration page, and for selling VIP tickets. Go to Marketing / Affiliate Manager. For more help setting up the affiliate center, see the help article "Affiliate Manager Overview". Access this article through the blue help button on the bottom right of your CRMRaptor account.

If you choose to sell tickets in a different system then you can track signups using Promoter Tracking. For one event, we successfully tracked 109 VIP ticket sales, allocating each sale to the promoter from the promoter tracking data.

Note that CRMRaptor can currently handle checkout using Stripe and PayPal; later more payment gateways will be added. The system can also handle upsells if you're looking for people to upgrade to a higher package.

The setup in EventRaptor will differ slightly based on whether you use CRMRaptor or EventRaptor - email support@eventraptor.com so we can help you set this up correctly.

Note - we do recommend you give your speakers the link we provide in EventRaptor, not the link provided by your affiliate system. However, this is not a requirement. You can choose to give them the affiliate link produced by CRMRaptor instead.

How To Decide Which System To Use

  • If you want to handle commissions automatically, including payments - choose CRMRaptor Affiliate Tracking

  • If you want to handle commissions manually, including calculating amounts and payments, choose EventRaptor Promoter Tracking

  • If you want to use a third-party system, choose EventRaptor Promoter Tracking, and contact us via support@eventraptor.com.

  1. Set up your event in EventRaptor.

  2. Create your registration page in CRMRaptor, as Step 1 of a funnel.

  3. Step 2 of the funnel is an upsell page where you offer the VIP ticket.

  4. Step 3 of the funnel is a "thanks for buying the VIP ticket" page.

  5. Step 4 of the funnel is a "thanks for registering", for those who did not buy.

You can choose to send "You're registered" and other event emails from CMRaptor, or we can send them from EventRaptor. We do recommend sending these emails from EventRaptor as this is easier to set up and control. However, CRMRaptor gives you more options for designing your emails, like inserting graphics into the email.

However - whichever system you are using, when you are promoting the sale of tickets in the future, you must direct people to go to Step 2 in your funnel, where you are offering the VIP ticket. You should then send them directly to that page; you should not use an affiliate tracking link as they have already used this in the past to register.
